Tính đến Hội nghị Bộ trưởng WTO lần thứ 14 được tổ chức tại Yaoundé, Cameroon, vào tháng 3/2026, 26 thành viên châu Phi của WTO đã chấp nhận Hiệp định, bao gồm 8 quốc gia không có bờ biển. Với tầm quan trọng của nghề đánh bắt cá biển đối với an ninh lương thực và nền kinh tế của châu Phi, việc thực hiện AFS có thể hỗ trợ đáng kể các kết quả phát triển bền vững trên khắp lục địa.

Thử nghiệm được thực hiện tại Sardinia trên khoảng 60.000 cá tráp vàng trong 25 tuần, cho thấy có thể thay thế tới 35% nguồn protein động vật bằng bột ruồi lính đen mà vẫn duy trì tăng trưởng và tỷ lệ sống ổn định.
