A representative of Halong Simexco said the company receives more orders from Japan; however, it is facing a shortage of workers. At the same time the difficulties caused by unforeseen cut-off the power often trouble its production.

In the first five months of this year, Halong Simexco exported nearly 25MT of frozen octopus, 2.6MT of frozen squid, and 18.7 million of seafood pies. In May alone, the company shipped more than 3MT of octopus, 2.6MT of squid, and 4.5 million of seafood pies to Japan.

Currently, the company has to buy material at price as much as 20 percent higher than the same period of last year in order to ensure materials for processing.
